Vegan, Frozen Chocolate Banana Treats

If you read my last blog post, you saw I'm going to be putting up some delicious recipes from my Bountiful Basket.
This recipe is so easy, delicious, and healthy!
What I used:
4 pealed and sliced bananas
two tsp. cinnamon
one tsp. nutmeg
salt to taste
1/4 cup almond butter
1/4 cup apple sauce
1 Tbs cocoa powder
squeeze of a lime to keep the bananas from browning
 Pinch of salt

Peel and slice your bananas.  It's okay if some are bruised like mine.  It will still taste good.
Sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg over the bananas and add a squeeze of lime.  Cover and place the bananas in the fridge.
In a separate bowl, mix together 1/4 cup almond butter, 1/4 cup homemade applesauce (see my blog post on how to make applesauce) and 1 tablespoon cocoa powder.
Mix together and set aside.

Next, lay out half the sliced bananas on a pan.  Make sure the pan will fit in your freezer.
Spoon on the almond/applesauce mix.
Top with a sliced banana to make a banana sandwich, and place in the freezer for about one hour.
This is the fun part.
Fill a pot with water turn your stove on medium high.  Put a bowl on top of your pot of boiling water.   This bowl is for melting the chocolate.
Make sure to keep the bowl dry.  If water gets into your bowl, the melted chocolate will get all chunky and dry.
Add the dairy free chocolate and stir to melt.
Cover the banana treat with chocolate.
Put the chocolate covered banana on a pan.  I put down waxed paper to keep the chocolate from sticking to my pan.
Place in the freezer for about 15 minutes and then store in a freezer safe baggie.

I made these treats a couple months ago and they were a major hit.
So delicious and a healthy protein snack!
